Unbroken Podcast 021: Siobhan and Shannon Tewari

Loved interviewing Siobhan and Shannon!  So cool to have a mother and daughter come together in their love for fitness!  We talked a lot about how Shannon at age 12 decided to start doing Crossfit after spending so much time in childcare at different fitness locations while her mom was a professional body builder.
image3Shannon is an amazing teenager.  She started doing CrossFit to supplement tennis, but CrossFit quickly became her focus and passion. The people she looks up to are CrossFit athletes.  She has applied the lessons she has learned while working out into her everyday life.  When things get hard, she knows she can still do it, because she has done hard things in the gym.  Shannon after 16.2 is now 42nd in the world in the teenage 14-15 age group! Look out, here she comes!

Siobhan has always strived to have fitness in her life.  Bodybuilding and figure was something she took to and fell in love with.  She competed professionally from 2005 to 2010. Three years ago, she found CrossFit, and it was a perfect fit for her in this time of her life. It was a lot of fun to talk about her time in the bodybuilding world and then her transition to CrossFit.

Unbroken Podcast 020: Travis Jarmin

Travis was a fun interview. He is part owner of a new gym in Joplin Missouri called Honey Badger Gym.  Anyone who associates themselves with the most bad ass animal on the planet has to be on my podcast!
Travis 3We had a good time talking.  We discuss how he found out he was Type One diabetic at the age of 10. After feasting during Thanksgiving dinner, his blood sugar spiked to 8 times the normal amount.

Travis rode BMX growing up.  He had a job in a bike shop at an age a lot younger than most of us even thought about working.  He had instilled at a young age that if he wanted something, he had to work for it. Loved talking about his approach to programing and taking care of the people in his gym.  Had a great time!

Unbroken Podcast 019: Hordos Andras

Hordos Andras (Andrew) has listened to this podcast from the beginning. He has been a great help with feedback and advice since I started this thing.  I was excited to have him come on the podcast and talk about some of the things he is involved in.

After he injured his wrist doing a muscle up, Andrew decided to start rowing a 5k everyday, because that was one of the few things he could do without pain. This plan quickly evolved into rowing 2 million meters in a single year. You don’t row that much in a year and not develop a wealth of knowledge.  He didn’t get this knowledge on his own; he reached out to the best in the world and got help and advice.

Over the years, he has progressed into coaching rowing classes, giving rowing seminars and now being a part of Dark Horse rowing.  Andrew finds things he loves and becomes really knowledgeable about them.  He has several CrossFit training certifications under his belt, including rowing.

Unbroken Podcast 018: Charity Dye

I was so excited for the chance to talk to Charity and lucked out that she was going to be up in Springfield. I got to know her through local competitions, and she was always the person to say something nice to everyone. I’ve always been impressed on how hard she works and how dedicated she is in fitness.

Some of her background includes teaching Body Pump classes to trying out CrossFit to going to Regionals 3 times.

We talk about nutrition and even pulled her husband Keith (a bodybuilder) into the conversation to tap into his knowledge.  Charity talks about how much her performance improved once she started following Keith’s diet.  He CrossFits to be with her, and she body builds to be with him.  You can tell they really love each other and complement each other in their own passions. Enjoy the podcast!

Unbroken Podcast 017: Mallory Lawson

I am such a fan of Mallory.  She is an amazing athlete and a fun person. She has always been an athlete.  She started gymnastics at the age of 2 and has not looked back in regards to fitness.

I had the honor to interview my wife for this podcast. Not only is she a very good athlete in her own respect, but she has to put up with me and all my shenanigans.

Unbroken Podcast 015: Ryan Reid

Ryan is a good friend of mine.  We have been working out together for almost two years.  I have managed to say a lot of dumb stuff around him, and he still keeps me as a friend!  I tell the story of my first time talking to him and his wife.  I am really surprised he even talked to me after!

Ryan is a recruiter for the National Guard, and I really wanted to talk to him regarding fitness in the military.  Boot camp has always been something that has really intimidated me.  I now know it is bad but not the terrible nightmare I always thought it was. Everyone comes out of basic training in amazing shape. We get to talk about what people do to stay fit after basic training, especially when you are just reserves. A lot of people turn to CrossFit and that is why we see a lot of people from the military involved with CrossFit.

Unbroken Podcast 014: Randy Santel

Hey, everybody! This is Chris Crosby with the Unbroken Podcast and proud owner of unbrokenpodcast.com. I am so freaking excited to have Randy Santel on my podcast this week.  This guy can put down some food!

Boy, can he eat.  But, he also knows a lot about fitness and weight loss.  Randy was athletic growing up and played football in college at Missouri State.  In 2010, he won a body transformation contest through Men’s Health. To celebrate, he did a food challenge with his friend and won $500.  He realized he was really good at this food eating thing and had been making videos of his challenges ever since.

Sarah Mae was your typical “head to the gym and run on the treadmill and work on abs after” gym goer, until a few of the guys at the gym talked her into to lifting some weights.  She has not looked back since.
